I’m a villain I’ve repented But I have already ended The world I came to value on that day I’m a liar I’m expended And I watched as you descended To the molten lava core where you still stay What does it mean If it’s not a fever dream And I’m seeking absolution But I hear screams Can you ever forgive me Do you even know my name Can you ever forgive me I promise I would do the same Are you hurt Or are you waiting Spent my days anticipating The color of the mood ring on your grave And I’m here on earth Debating Spend my days and nights creating Wishing I could travel back and save you Did you know what you were doing When you signed our fatal pact Did you read the fine print over Did you skim it to the back If I told you in the darkness There’s just one last surprise Would you rise up and be certain Would you hide it with your eyes Can you ever forgive me Do you even know my name Can you ever forgive me I promise I would do the same I’d do the same I would do the same I’d do the same

about

Soft Crisis formed unofficially during the early days of the pandemic. Pent up and craving noise, we took to tracking music on our lonesome, experimenting and sending rough tunes back and forth until ideas cemented and became... something.

Before we had ever breathed the same air or even had a name, we had written and recorded dozens of songs. Of that early lot, many tracks transitioned from sketch to live play, finding their place in our set, getting the full-blown studio treatment, and landing on our "I'll Stop Now" EP. Other tracks got ditched completely, culled in frustration, drowned in reverb, lost to time with the delay knob cranked to infinity.

What was left between the trash bin and the studio holds a lot of meaning for us. These are the remainders. For better and worse, they show our work.

And we may never play them again.
